Nocturne Walk
We couldn’t determine the size of the lagoons as we approached them. Most things are hard to define, to get clarity on at 3am in the morning.
I was never sure of my senses. My vision was in unfamiliar territory as I am unaccustomed to having to figure out the scale of objects in a vast desert like landscape durning the night. I found it thrilling.
Even though I could not see the dunes, I had a sense of them. Partly it was due to the stars being blocked out on occasion by a dune that rose up in front of me in the darkness. Other times it was mostly because my feet told me I was on a slope of some kind.
I learned to see with my feet. I mapped out the contours of the land in my mind’s eye when I noticed my foot fall having to sharply, and often abruptly, change angle.
And yet, somehow, in my mind, I ‘saw’ the dunes. Just the way they look in this image.
